Amy Hillman, dean and Charles J. Robel Dean’s Chair, was named a Most Admired Leader by the Phoenix Business Journal. She was honored earlier this week at a virtual ceremony alongside other awardees, including Douglas Sylvester, dean of the Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law.
The Phoenix Business Journal also caught up with Hillman to get her leadership advice.
Hillman’s courageous and compassionate leadership has been especially appreciated during this tumultuous year. “Time and again throughout the pandemic, Amy has demonstrated that she is a leader who is willing to get in the trenches with faculty, staff, students, and alumni, and to do whatever it takes,” says Dan Gruber, associate dean for teaching and learning. “Her management approach is deeply personal and is evident in everything she does to elevate the school.”
Hillman is the first woman to serve as dean of W. P. Carey, and she takes her mentorship role seriously. In safer times, she hosts Women’s Circle events in the community, featuring female scholars who discuss their research and industries. Attendees include CEOs and leaders from across the Valley. Further, Hillman volunteers as a speaker and panelist for audiences who want to learn about board equity, governance, and leadership.
Congratulations to her for being named a Most Admired Leader by the Phoenix Business Journal! The W. P. Carey community is lucky to have Hillman at the helm.
