Happy Friendsgiving
Thanksgiving is a time to be thankful for all the blessings you have received. It is a holiday to celebrate with friends and family.
Being an international student at the W. P. Carey School has its own perks. W. P. Carey gives you an opportunity to celebrate and immerse yourself in the various traditional holidays. Recently I had an opportunity to enjoy and celebrate Friendsgiving at W. P. Carey and the experience was everything I could have asked for.
On the evening of Nov 21, 2014 the small family of W. P. Carey MBA students came together to celebrate. Since I was new to this holiday I did not know what to expect. My knowledge of this holiday was limited to what Google told me. As I made my way towards the dinner venue, the aroma of the food filled the air. When I entered the room I noticed the table loaded with the traditional Thanksgiving dinner. Being a foodie, that’s the first thing I noticed. From turkey to apple pie, the table was laden with food all prepared by my friends.
The room was full with festivity. Music, food, conversation about every possible topic, and the cuteness of children (see pictures for reference) was everywhere. The evening progressed and so did my knowledge of Thanksgiving, as my friends explained the traditions, the history, and all the important aspects of the holiday.
The entire experience was exhilarating. I cannot put a number to the new experiences — from making new friends to enjoying the new holiday to the mouth-watering food. I just cannot mention enough. I left the dinner with various memories and I understood what Thanksgiving is about. It’s about spending time with the people you love and I am thankful to my friends for sharing this experience with me.
