Spring 2026 W. P. Carey Dean's Medalists honored at special luncheon
Outstanding graduates from each program recognized for academic achievement and lasting impact on the ASU community.
As part of its graduation tradition, the W. P. Carey School of Business recognizes one outstanding graduate from each degree program as a Dean's Medalist — an honor reserved for those who exemplify excellence.
"You're here because you're the best of the best, and you've really stood out as remarkable students and members of the W. P. Carey community," said Amy Ostrom, vice dean, interim chair of the Department of Marketing, and PetSmart Chair in Services Leadership, who moderated the luncheon honoring the medalists. "You all should be incredibly proud of this distinction."
Ohad Kadan, Charles J. Robel Dean and W. P. Carey Distinguished Chair in Business, shared inspiring remarks encouraging students not to be afraid of failure because it means they are competing at the right level.
"You are part of an amazing group at one of the best business schools in the United States," said Kadan. "Being excellent means competing with the very best — and that inevitably comes with rejection. Don't be discouraged by it. In fact, embrace it. Say to yourself: If I'm getting rejections, I'm taking meaningful risks, aiming sufficiently high, and competing at the level that I should."
Kadan emphasized that growth often comes through persistence, resilience, and the ability to view setbacks as opportunities for learning and development as students prepare to take their next steps beyond W. P. Carey.

"Being named a Dean's Medalist means that I've accomplished one of my biggest goals for my college experience," said Ariyal Jain (BS Artificial Intelligence/Marketing, BA Sustainability '25), the recipient of the Dean's Medal for both the Bachelor of Science in artificial intelligence in business and the Bachelor of Science in marketing. "When I arrived at W. P. Carey, I made a promise to myself that I would leave a positive, meaningful, and lasting impact on this campus and within the community. Being recognized as a Dean's Medalist feels like a confirmation that I've done that in some way. It also serves as motivation to keep going. There are moments when the work becomes tiring, and it's easy to question your value or purpose, so having a reminder that what you do matters and means something to others is incredibly meaningful."
Allison Evdokimo (MS Marketing '26), recipient of the inaugural Online Master of Science in marketing medal, reflected on the significance of this recognition: "Being named a Dean's Medalist is incredibly meaningful to me, not just as a recognition of academic achievement, but as a reflection of my personal growth."
She went on to share, "This recognition represents the progress I've made in this journey. It reminds me that growth is possible through persistence and a willingness to step outside your comfort zone. I will continue to strive not only to learn and be inspired by those around me, but also to inspire others. This achievement has shown me that I am capable of more than I once believed, and that is something I am forever grateful for."
Each Dean's Medalist received a medallion to wear at convocation, a certificate of achievement, and professional photos with the dean. Students networked with school leadership and each other throughout the luncheon before officially joining a network of more than 130,000 alums across 100-plus countries and all 50 states when they cross the stage next week.
